muesly Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-07-12

Overview

muesly is free, source-available software that captures, transcribes, and summarizes your speech on your own device. By downloading or using muesly, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

License

muesly is released under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. You are free to use, copy, modify, and distribute the software for any noncommercial purpose, subject to that license. Commercial use requires a separate license from the author. These terms describe how the official builds are provided and do not restrict any rights granted to you by the license.

No Warranty

muesly is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You use the app at your own risk. We do not guarantee that transcription or summarization will be accurate, complete, or uninterrupted.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the maintainers shall not be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from or in connection with the software or its use, including any loss of data, recordings, transcripts, or summaries.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lawful use: you are responsible for using muesly in compliance with all applicable laws, including recording-consent and wiretapping laws in your jurisdiction. Many places require the consent of all parties before recording a conversation. Obtaining that consent is your responsibility.
  • Your content: you own your recordings, transcripts, and summaries. You are responsible for how you store, share, and use them.
  • Third-party services: if you configure an optional cloud LLM provider or connect a Google account, your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. See the Privacy Policy for details on what data is sent where.

Privacy

muesly is local-first: your recordings, transcripts, and notes stay on your device unless you explicitly configure a cloud provider. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Changes to These Terms

Material changes are announced through updates to this document in the GitHub repository and in release notes. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
